Staffies make lovely family pets

You may think of Staffordshire Bull terriers as a status dogs, but if trained well and brought up in a loving family they can make a good family pet.

Staffies are often mistaken for a dangerous dog, but as with all dog breeds, as long as they are trained well, or retrained well, they will be well behaved and fit in well in a home environment.

Battersea Dogs home recently ran a campaign trying to get Staffordshire Bull terriers rehomed, as they are a breed which often gets abandoned by owners who can no longer care for an animal, or is found stray.

There is an issue which often prevents the breed from being rehomed. They often appear be being aggressive when they are seen in a kennel environment. This is what happens more when there are a few staffies together, but are often softies when seen on their own.

Tim Oxley, dog warden at Swale Borough Council, told me about what lovely pets they can make.

If you are thinking of rehoming a dog there are a few rehoming centres around the county which you can visit.
